High demand of Finnish healthcare expertise in UAE
A recent Team Finland trip to the United Arab Emirates, organised to promote Finnish expertise in the health and welfare sector, succeeded beyond expectations, according to an official press release.
The level of interest in Finnish health care providers and their products and services was huge as a total of 18 firms presented their portfolios to prospective clients under the guidance of Minister of Health and Social Services, Susanna Huovinen during the visit to the UAE during 18-22 January, 2015.
“The majority of the companies that joined us on the trip are confident that they are about to start operations in this region. This constitutes a truly significant opening for Finnish exports in the health and welfare sector. These companies even managed to enter into bilateral negotiations with the appropriate decision makers, which is crucial to success in this area”, Huovinen explains.
The companies on the trip represented a range of healthcare specialists, including those specialising in wellness technologies and other related service providers, specialist hospital care providers, as well as professional trainers and educators in the sector.
Two Finnish companies signed large contracts during their short stay in the country. The visit and all the deals now signed are the result of long-term effort, the groundwork for which began on a previous visit to the UAE in autumn 2013.
“It was a great personal privilege to be able to represent Finnish companies and help promote them in this region”, Huovinen continues.
The visit to the UAE was organised under the remit of the FinlandCare international cooperation programme. Initiated by the Finnish government in 2011, FinlandCare is a programme designed to advance the cause of Finnish exports in the health and welfare sector. The programme unites relevant companies seeking to export their products and services in the international marketplace.
