ELSTAT publishes survey on life and health expectancy in Greece

The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published its latest survey on life and health expectancy in Greece for 2012. The survey was based on systematic research and health indicators from 2004 onwards.

According to the survey the life expectancy for people aged 65 years old an without long term illness was 7.2 years of women and 7.8 years for men. Although the life expectancy of men is less than that of women, the survey shows that they remain healthier than women.

The life expectancy for women was less than the European Union averages in 2012 (21.4 and 21 years respectively), while that for men was more or less the same (18.1 and 18 year respectively).
