Estonian government gives money to for Ebola Relief
The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has provided 50,000 euros to help the World Health Organization prevent the deadly viral illness from spreading in West Africa.
The current epidemic is centered on Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. The WHO is aiming to develop a monitoring and warning system, follow up on all new suspected cases, and reduce hospital infections. It is also administering training in the public sectors of West African countries. Lab technology will also be supported.
The epidemic was first pinpointed in late March and had killed 1,400 people as of August 28, with 80 of the 170 medical workers infected also among the fatalities. This time the epidemic is also spreading in the largest cities, not only rural areas.
