Moldovan physicians warn residents about risk of water pollution in wells

The National Public Health Centre (CNSP) has warned the residents that, because of the heavy rainfall of the last days, there was a risk of water pollution in wells.

In this context, health specialists urged the citizens to be cautious when consuming water and protect food products from contamination.

A CNSP press service reads that, if the wells were flooded following rains, “it is necessary to fully pump the water and evacuate the mud, with the washing and disinfecting walls of wells with disinfectant solution of 5-per cent calcium hypochlorite, and after the volume of water is re-established, the well must be repeatedly disinfected.”

Also, in the settlements where floods occurred, physicians recommend the use of boiled water both on purposes of drinking and for corporal hygiene, and children are recommended to drink bottled flat water.

In all cases of wells’ flooding, the residents are urged to inform the authorities of the local public administration and territorial institutions of the State Supervision Service of Public Health, in order to prevent the spread of diseases and infections through rain water.
