What shall we do with this spanish hospital?
Six ideas for what to do with the ‘old’ district hospital in Gandia when the new one is built have been presented to the town hall. The La Safor (Valencia province) hospital is overcrowded, under-staffed and lacks many crucial services and departaments, forcing patients to travel elsewhere.
It does not have a radiotherapy unit, which means people with cancer have to travel to Alzira (Ribera Alta) or even Valencia for daily treatment. A new hospital has been on the cards since 2005, and the regional government promises it will be open by next year – a decade after the work started.
Mayor Arturo Torró (PP) invited developers, architects and members of the public to send in their ideas for the old building.
