On-the-Spot bills at health centres in Spain
THE REGIONAL health department is about to change its billing procedures in all public hospitals and health centres allowing them to produce on-the-spot bills for patients who would have to pay for their services.
The new system is being pioneered in Elche and Santa Pola and will gradually spread to the rest of the province.
Public hospitals and health centres will be able to issue a bill, and receive payment via credit card machines when the amount can be billed, such as if the patient does not have a SIP card or if they have been the victims of a road traffic accident (RTA), in which case the treatment can be covered by their insurance.
